I promise you and your kindergartener an exciting year filled with great joy as we learn about this wonderful world that God made and your child’s place in it! This year I will be focusing on five areas of development:
Spiritual- To help children grow in their relationship with their Lord through daily devotions, prayer, Bible stories, and song.
Cognitive- To help children acquire thinking skills such as to problem solve, to ask questions, and to think logically—sorting, classifying, comparing, counting, and making patterns—and to use materials and their imagination to show what they have learned.
Social/emotional- To help children develop independence, self confidence, and self-control, and learning what it means to be part of the group by having free exploration time, group work as well as individual work.
Physical- To help children further develop their large motor skills such as running, jumping, etc. and their use of small motor skills such as writing, cutting, drawing, stringing beads.
Language- To help children develop their vocabularies, to be able to participate in conversations with one another, recognize letters and words to begin to recognize them in print, and to begin writing with a purpose.
